My Journey Began With A Passion For Psychology & Neuroscience

I acquired a robust foundation in Social and Behavioral Neuroscience; weaving together academic exploration and hands-on research. I was drawn into the pursuit of unraveling the intricacies of human behavior.

Fun Facts:
1. The picture of me with the EEG cap on was taken while working at the Neuro-Learning and Performance Lab at UMASS Amherst.
2. The background on the banner at the top of this page is an image I took of hippocampal neurogenesis while interning at the Sagol Department of Neurobiology.*

I Joined The Neurotology Department at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM)

Here I explored the power of innovation to improve patient care supported by grants from the NIH and NASA.

I had the pleasure to lead and collaborate with a wide variety of research teams and health care professionals; conducting research on the vestibular system, balance disorders, medical device trials, clinical process development, and more!

Advancing Knowledge: Notable Research Accomplishments

I worked alongside valued members of the Space Center Houston education team, collaborated with RxFunction to develop their innovative solution to Peripheral Neuropathy, and many other healthcare heros from the BCM hospital system.

I showcased my commitment to advancing scientific knowledge by presenting at the Space Exploration Educators Conference (in 2020 and 2021), engaging with STEM educators nationwide. I also had the opportunity to present at NASA’s Human Research Program Investigators’ Workshop, where I discussed the inner ear's response to microgravity, contributing to the collective understanding of human adaptation in space exploration.

Nystagmus: Rapid, uncontrollable eye movements that are common with many inner-ear disorders.

Dedication in Action: Clinical Responsibilities and Challenging Circumstances

A significant part of my job was conducting clinical diagnostic testing for patients with inner-ear disorders.

While the COVID-19 pandemic created new challenges for healthcare systems around the globe, I was able to discover the power of resilience as I did my part as a frontline healthcare worker.

Fun Fact:
1. The video of my eyes experiencing nystagmus was recorded on the clinical equipment. This reflex can be assessed to help patients uncover why they are experiencing dizziness or vertigo.

Charting a New Course: From Healthcare to UX

Seeking greater impact, I pursued medical school but shifted course, after discovering the power of human-centered design in healthcare.

I made the difficult decision to redirect my career, seeking a different avenue to enhance medicine and healthcare that aligns more closely with my strengths. My first step was to immerse myself in a UX/UI Design bootcamp at the University of Minnesota.

Empathetic Innovation: Bridging Healthcare and UX for Chronic Pain Relief

Fueled by my drive for impact, healthcare background, and growing UX skills, I designed an app for chronic pain management.

Recognizing the unmet needs in this space, I aimed for an app that goes beyond functionality. This project embodies the synergy of disciplines, showcasing the power of empathy. By integrating my healthcare experience, a passion for positive change, and refined UX skills, I aim to provide relief and empowerment for those facing chronic pain challenges.

Freelancing Adventures in UX

I've had the privilege of crafting compelling digital experiences for various clients. From user research to wireframes and polished live websites, each endeavor is a unique opportunity for problem-solving and innovation.

My freelance ventures extend beyond the realms of aesthetics, delving into the strategic integration of user needs and business objectives. Collaborating with a spectrum of industries, I've honed my ability to adapt and tailor designs that resonate with diverse audiences.

What Comes Next?

I am excited to dive deeper into the world of user experience and to continue utilizing my research and design experiences for a more intuitive and user-friendly tomorrow.

This isn't just the end; it's a call to action. Join me in crafting the next chapter of digital experiences. Let's innovate together, shaping a future where technology enhances well-being.

The journey continues—be a part of building a better future!
